Virginia Dixon is a native of Montreal where she developed an early affinity for painting and the spiritual in art. She received her BFA from Concordia University, while pursuing modern dance at the Saidye Bronfman Centre. After moving to Toronto, she continued with painting, modern dance and corporeal mime, working at Currys Art Store for many years and teaching art to children. She married and raised three children eventually returning to university earning her MFA from Vermont College/Norwich University. With grown children and marriage ending Virginia opened and directed the Pteros Gallery in the west end of Toronto specializing in the visual art of poets. She later moved to a 100-acre farm north of Belleville where she lived happily for several years. Once grandchildren were on the horizon Virginia returned to Toronto to be closer to family again. She maintains a studio downtown.
